A Short Biography of Fr. Boniface

The Archpriest Boniface Black was ordained in the Orthodox Church in 1978, after serving Lutheran Churches in Iowa and Pennsylvania for 20 years. As an Orthodox priest, he served as Pastor of two churches he established: Saint Philip Church in Souderton, PA, from 1978 until 2009; and Saint Andrew Church in Lewes, DE, from 2005 until his passing in 2016.

Fr. Boniface was active in mission work for the Diocese of Oakland, Charleston, and the MidAtlantic (formerly the Eastern Region), serving as Missions Coordinator for many years. He helped start seven congregations in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland. Under his guidance over the years, seven men were ordained into the Orthodox priesthood, and he was a treasured mentor to many.

Father Boniface reposed in the Lord on August 7, 2016.
