Handmaidens

"The Handmaidens are a group of girls and young women in the church aged approximately 7-18 years old. During the services, they are responsible for tending to the candles, similarly to how the Holy Myrrh Bearing women practiced vigilance by tending to their oil lamps. The girls have additional duties throughout the year including: receiving and distributing the Light at Holy Pascha, decorating the church with flowers for various Feasts, hosting an annual ice cream social and more. We also try to meet on occasion to foster fellowship and discussion of what it means to be a young Orthodox Christian woman."
